Art Studio Residencies, involving 4 Visual Arts graduates of Derby University and practising artists in East Midlands, for a period of 8 weeks per artist (2 artists at a time), between September 2016 to August 2017. They will be held at Artcore, with artists invited to apply. The residencies will offer a stimulating platform and ambience for artists to continue their practice and encourage them to build a research-based project that could develop into an exciting art initiative. The exhibition of the Residency artists will be held at Platform at Artcore, Deda, London Road NHS Hospital and Derby Museums and Art Gallery.
Each artist will be given free studio space, a bursary, a mentor to work with, have access to our library, free wi-fi and participate as observer/facilitator in any of our art-based community activities. During the Residency, the artist will be encouraged to create new work, research and develop art projects. Each artist will display their work in a 2- person exhibition post the Residency, accompanied with an e-catalogue. Short activities will be initiated with the artist engaging the various communities that we work with, including children.
